Syria insurgents merely dogs of war: Stone

Press TV talks with Ken Stone, with the Hamilton Coalition to Stop the War from Ontario, regarding reports about Syria insurgents’ plan to use a group of nuns kidnapped from their convent in the town of Ma’loula as human shields.

What follows is an approximate transcription of the interview.

Press TV: This entire crisis in Syria began because these insurgents claimed they wanted freedom and democracy. What does this then say about that?

Stone: Well, when I hear about an outrage like the kidnapping of these 12 nuns, it makes me wonder if there is any fit partner for the Syrian government to sit down with at Geneva 2 next month to discuss a political solution to this tragedy in Syria.

These foreign-backed mercenaries obviously have nothing to do with freedom and democracy. They are merely the dogs of war that have been unleashed by certain Arab monarchies and Western countries to enforce regime change in Syria.

Mother Agnes Mariam, who was here a few days ago in Hamilton Ontario sponsored by our organization, said that the Western countries should call off these dogs of war and let the Syrian people achieve a national reconciliation on their own.

Press TV: The world has been fairly silent about such atrocities so far. Do you think that the world will now finally act and stand on the right side of the history in Syria?

Stone: I would hope they would but there is so much hypocrisy in the West here that it makes me very sad that the Western countries and the Western so-called human rights organizations look around the world to find criticisms of countries they do not like, about the human rights records of the countries they do not like, while at the same time, the mercenaries whom they are paying for commit these outrageous barbaric acts in Syria and they do not say a word.

It is time they step up to the plate and condemn the people that they have paid for and call them off and led the Syrian people come to a solution on their own.
