Iran’s 20th Int’l Holy Qur’an Exhibition starts


Iran’s 20th International Holy Qur’an Exhibition has kicked off in the Iranian capital of Tehran in the presence of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

Iran’s Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Seyyed Mohammad Hosseini, a number of lawmakers, scholars and researchers also attended the opening ceremony held at the city’s Grand Prayer Grounds on Sunday.

The exhibition is held under the title “Qur’an, Culture of Awakening” and dedicates a section to the Islamic Awakening, displaying the social atmosphere and street events of five Arab countries of Egypt, Tunisia, Yemen, Bahrain and Palestine.

This edition of the exhibition includes a total of 40 sections, including children, young adults, family, recitations and memorizations, research, education and translation.

Iranian publishers together with 150 foreign publishers participate in the event to exhibit their Quranic products.

India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Bahrain, Turkey, Thailand, Myanmar, Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Tajikistan, Sri Lanka, Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Kosovo have taken part in the international section of the month-long exhibition.

Several specialized meetings on different topics such as Qur’an and economy, Qur’an and sociology, and Qur’an and the sciences will be held on the sidelines of the event.

The 20th International Holy Qur’an Exhibition will run until August 14, 2012.
