Iran’s Army Chief asserts that the recent prisoner exchange highlights Israel’s defeat and signifies a victory for the people of Gaza

According to the chief commander of the Iranian Army, the recent prisoner exchange between Israel and the Palestinian resistance group Hamas has exposed the magnitude of Israel's defeat and highlighted the victory of the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.

Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi delivered remarks during a meeting on Sunday with Major General Hossein Salami, the Chief Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC).

During the Israeli regime’s 15-month conflict in the Gaza Strip, which has been described as genocidal, Mousavi stated that efforts were made to eradicate a nation. However, developments within the besieged enclave have brought a sense of hope to the Muslim community.

In a significant development as part of the recent accord between Hamas and Israel, 183 Palestinian detainees were released from Israeli custody on Saturday. Upon their arrival at the European Hospital in Khan Younis, Gaza, many of the freed individuals appeared visibly frail and fatigued.

The Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (PPS) has reported on the alleged mistreatment of detainees, stating that their physical condition reveals “the extent of crimes committed against them,” especially following the events of October 7, 2023.

Israel has disclosed a roster comprising over 700 Palestinian detainees slated for release as part of an agreement. Among the prisoners, more than 230 individuals are serving life sentences and will face permanent exile following their liberation.

Hamas announced that Israel has been compelled to release Palestinian prisoners following months of intense and unprecedented military actions against Gaza. The group described the situation as an act of “brutal aggression” affecting all parts of the region.

In his address on Sunday, Mousavi highlighted the protective role of the Army and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in safeguarding the Iranian populace from external threats. He underscored that the solidarity and cooperation between these two military entities would elicit a sense of pride and happiness within the nation, while simultaneously inciting anger and discontent among adversaries.

An Iranian military commander stated that fostering empathy and cohesion among the population is expected to have a significant impact, enhancing the nation’s defensive capabilities and overall national strength.
