Hamas slams Papua New Guinea over intent to open embassy in occupied lands

The Hamas Movement has strongly denounced Papua New Guinea’s decision to open an embassy in Occupied Jerusalem, describing such a step as a “flagrant violation against the Palestinian people’s rights.”

In press remarks on Monday, Hamas spokesman Jihad Taha said that such a step by Papua New Guinea would not confer legitimacy on the Israeli occupation state.

Spokesman Jihad called on the authorities in Papua New Guinea to backtrack on such a decision immediately, affirming that its intent to open an embassy in Jerusalem violates the international law, which considers the holy city under occupation.

The spokesman urged the island country, which is located in the southwestern Pacific Ocean, to reassess its relations with the Israeli occupation, whose crimes against the Palestinian people, their land and holy sites persist and pose a threat to the world’s peace and security.
