Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps to hold major naval maneuver

Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Navy is to hold a major maneuver in the near future, a senior IRGC commander says.

IRGC Navy Commander Rear Admiral Ali Fadavi said Thursday that the maneuver will be different compared to previous ones, adding that the country’s latest home-made achievements will be showcased during the drill, IRNA reported.

Fadavi made the remark on the sidelines of a major parade by Iran’s Armed Forces to mark the 31st anniversary of eight years of defense against Iraq’s invasion of the country.

He said that Iran has made considerable defense achievements compared to 30 years ago and is fully ready to protect its territory.

The ‘Sacred Defense Week’ started on Thursday nationwide to commemorate the braveries of Iranian soldiers who fought in the 1980-1988 Iraqi-imposed war and defended their country from enemy aggressions.

Iraq’s executed dictator Saddam Hussein invaded Iran on September 22, 1980 in a war that dragged on for eight years.
