Iran’s Judiciary Chief calls for massive Muslim Turnout on Quds Day

Iran’s Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Sadeq Amoli Larijani on Sunday called on the worldwide Muslim community to stage massive participation in the International Quds Day rallies on Friday.

All Muslim and freedom-seeking nations of the world should attend the rallies on the International Quds Day, Amoli Larijani said, addressing a number of judiciary officials here in Tehran today.

He viewed massive turnout of the Muslims on the Quds Day as an opportunity for the Muslims to reinvigorate their unity, and said, “Grand and glorious gatherings on the Quds Day each year have been able to add to the eminence of the world of Islam by weakening the enemies.”

The International Qods Day was started by the late Founder of the Islamic Republic, Imam Khomeini, as a way of expressing solidarity with the Palestinians and underscoring importance of Qods to Muslims.

International Qods Day is an annual event opposing Israel’s occupation of Baitul-Muqaddas. Anti-Zionist rallies and demonstrations are held on the last Friday of Ramadan in Muslim and Arab countries around the world, and especially in Iran.

Amoli Larijani further praised Imam Khomeini’s initiative, and reiterated that naming the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan as the Quds Day by Imam Khomeini has brought honor to Islam and Muslims and humiliation to the arrogant powers.
