Iran’s Military Exercises Serve Deterrent Objectives

A senior member of the Iranian parliament rejected the western states’ hues and cries about Iran’s military power, and said Iran’s military exercises merely serve deterrent purposes.
Member of the parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Abbasali Mansouri Arani on Saturday denounced certain Western governments for their ballyhoo over Iran’s recent military exercises, and stressed the “deterrent nature” of the drills.
He described the exercises as part of the Iranian military’s training and annual programs aimed at boosting the country’s essential military prowess, and test-firing new weaponry.
Mansouri Arani further said West is seeking to sell its weapons through spreading Iranophobia.
“…the West is trying to make regional countries fearful of Iran to not only sell its arms, but also keep these countries under its domination.”
The lawmaker also said Iranian Armed Forces are quite capable of maintaining security in this strategic region.
Most world countries, including Iran, have blamed foreign forces for continued instability in the region and have called for a complete pullout of the aliens.
Iranian military commanders have always reiterated Tehran’s commitment to the security of the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz, and cautioned that foreign military presence will only undermine the security of the strategic waterway.
Iranian officials have repeatedly warned the trans-regional states, specially the US, to pull their troops and warships out of the Persian Gulf.
Iranian officials have also frequently underlined the necessity for the establishment of security in the Persian Gulf through extensive and all-out cooperation among the regional states.
