West fears Press TV truthful information dissemination
The only ground on which the Western-owned satellite providers’ continuous ban on Iran’s English-language news network Press TV could be justified is the West’s fear of promotion of truth.

International analysts and journalists have unanimously heaped scorn on the US government, influenced by Zionist lobbies, for the prevailing illegal bans on Press TV, which has always felt obliged to spread truthful news.

“The only reason for any censorship is to control a population by eliminating access to dangerous ideas. Dangerous ideas are considered dangerous because they have the power of truth behind them,” Gordon Duff, a senior editor at Veterans Today said recently.

In its extensive efforts to silence free speech, the West has resorted to every tool including scare tactics.

“Well I think a scare tactic has been used by the Western world to prevent another voice, another opinion and this is an ultimate outrage for what they are trying to do to silence everybody and intimidate everybody,” analyst Kamel Wazne said recently in an interview on Press TV.

Add to this the recent European ban on Press TV CEO Mohammad Sarafraz based on a risible reasoning: a 10-second interview conducted with a detainee of Iran’s 2009 post-election riots.

The reason for all bans faced by Press TV and its director is rooted in its firm determination to fulfill its obligations.

While many Western media have stopped reporting the still near-daily demonstrations in countries like Spain and Greece and opposition to France’s obstruction of peace efforts in Syria, or ignored repression in countries such as Bahrain or Myanmar, Press TV has stayed true to its original mission of being the voice of the voiceless.

Press TV has never shirked from its responsibility to keep the world abreast of realities transpiring the world.

Furthermore, the Western governments have adopted contradictory approaches vis-à-vis Press TV. On the one hand, they impose fines on Press TV offices to punish the channel for no substantiated allegations and on the other decide suddenly to yank it off the air.

“This episode is indeed a black stain on the hands of [European satellite provider] Eutelsat and its CEO, who is purported to be an Israeli national who carries out the orders of the Zionist lobby in the US and Europe,” Sarafraz wrote in an open letter dated March 6.

Earlier this month, the Western media outlets came under fire for their silence on attempts by the Franco-Israeli CEO of Eutelsat to take Press TV and other Iranian television networks off the air in violation of the freedom of speech.

European news agencies are criticized for failing to cover what’s being seen in Iran as efforts to stifle freedom of expression.

In February, Tighe Barry, an activist with the CODEPINK group, said the US has eroded freedom of speech, moral values and human rights for the American people over the past decades.

However, these sharp criticisms have fallen on deaf ears in the Western countries which stick to their irrational reasoning for the Press TV ban.

Despite all these restrictions, Press TV feels compelled to counter Western distortion of realities.
