Iran’s Nuclear Program to Continue as Peaceful, Affirms Spokesman

Iran remains committed to conducting its nuclear activities within a peaceful framework, guided by religious decrees and its national security doctrine, according to Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei.

During a press conference held in Tehran on Monday, spokesperson Baqaei addressed inquiries regarding recent remarks by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi concerning a potential shift in Iran’s nuclear strategy. Baqaei reaffirmed that Iran’s nuclear policy remains consistent and emphasized that the nation’s nuclear program will continue to be solely for peaceful purposes.

According to the spokesman, the foreign minister’s comments in a recent interview with The Guardian were intended as a cautionary message against the unproductive tactics being employed by several Western nations.

He stated that Western policies have led to a public discourse suggesting that Iran may not have chosen the right approach concerning its nuclear program.

Baqaei noted that Foreign Minister Araqchi highlighted the establishment of expert-level discussions, underscoring the minister’s assertion that Iran intends to uphold its peaceful nuclear endeavors. This commitment is grounded in a religious fatwa and takes into account national security evaluations.

The spokesperson criticized the United States for its detrimental actions and efforts to hinder the ongoing engagement between Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
