About 40 members of the Daesh Takfiri terrorist group have been killed in an airstrike carried out by the Iraqi army in the restive province of Anbar.

The terrorists were slain late on Saturday while at a factory in Kabisa, a city located in the Hit district of the western province, Iraqis News reported on Sunday, citing an unnamed security source, adding that the strike also destroyed vehicles of the Takfiri group.

Elsewhere in the province, Iraqi Federal Police targeted various Daesh military posts by artillery fire, killing at least eight terrorists, including a senior leader.

In Albu Shajel area, north of the western city of Fallujah, seven rocket launchers belonging to Daesh were destroyed in similar strikes.

Gruesome violence has plagued the northern and western parts of Iraq ever since Daesh launched an offensive in June 2014, and took control of portions of Iraqi territory.

The militants have been committing heinous crimes against all ethnic and religious communities in Iraq, including Shias, Sunnis, Kurds, Christians and others.
