On Sunday afternoon, the Iranian Foreign Minister engaged in high-level discussions with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad during a meeting in Damascus.

In a statement to the press following his discussions with President Bashar Assad, Abbas Araghchi described the talks as “useful, frank, and friendly.”

“The discussion highlighted the prevailing conditions in the region and in Syria,” he stated, noting that, “Despite the challenging circumstances, the courage and resilience displayed by the Syrian President are commendable.”

The senior Iranian diplomat asserted that terrorist organizations may perceive a new era as an opportunity to pursue their activities, but affirmed that they will encounter firm opposition.

He further stated that discussions took place regarding the specific nature of support to be extended to Syria.

An official statement was delivered to the President of Syria, affirming the Islamic Republic of Iran’s steadfast support for both the Syrian state and its citizens, as well as its personal backing for President Bashar al-Assad.

“We achieved significant understanding during the meeting,” he stated.

Syrian media sources report that during a recent meeting with Iran’s Foreign Minister, the Syrian President asserted that Syria remains resolute in its commitment to combating terrorist organizations with full force.

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad stated that combating terrorism benefits the security and stability of the entire region.

The Iranian Foreign Minister made his arrival in Damascus, the capital of Syria, on Sunday afternoon.

On Saturday, Iranian and Turkish foreign ministries announced that Iran’s chief diplomat is scheduled to visit Syria on Sunday, with a subsequent trip to Turkey slated for Monday.
