The Iraqi Army has reportedly entered the strategic district of Qadsiyah today after a fierce battle with the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS).

According to the official media page for the Iraqi Army, their forces entered the district from its eastern corridor after launching a surprise assault this morning.

The Iraqi Army currently controls at least ten districts in Mosul’s eastern sector; however, they still have a long way to go, as the Islamic State attempts to forestall their onslaught.
