Iraqi demonstrators, expressing outrage over the situation in Gaza, set fire to flags of Israel, the United States, and the United Kingdom
In a significant demonstration of opposition, Iraqi protesters set ablaze the flags of the United States, the United Kingdom, and Israel following Friday prayers. The large-scale rallies were organized to voice condemnation of the continued Israeli military actions in both Gaza and Lebanon.

Thousands of Iraqi citizens gathered in the streets of Baghdad to demonstrate against Israel and its Western allies, condemning the ongoing Israeli military operations in the West Asia region. The protesters voiced their strong opposition to what they described as a campaign of death and destruction.
During a recent demonstration, protesters set fire to flags of the United States, the United Kingdom, and Israel. Video footage captured scenes of demonstrators tearing and burning the flags in Baghdad’s Sadr City and in the southern city of Najaf, which holds significant religious importance.
Demonstrators displayed Palestinian and Lebanese flags while chanting slogans critical of Israel, including phrases such as “No, no to Israel. Yes, yes to Islam.”
During a rally held in Baghdad, Iraqi lawmaker Hakim al-Zamili delivered a vehement condemnation of Israeli actions, particularly highlighting offenses against women and children.
He announced their decision to denounce what they describe as Zionist and American actions resulting in the deaths of children, women, and the elderly.
He criticized Arab governments for their lack of response to the regime’s ongoing massacres and the targeting of civilians in the region.
“The persistent violence, characterized by a lack of response from the Arab, Islamic, and international communities, continues to claim the lives of children, women, and the elderly.”
Demonstrations of a similar nature were also reported in the cities of Kufa, Kut, and Khan Bani Saad in the Diyala Governorate, as well as in Samawah, which lies strategically between Baghdad and Basra.
Rally participants sharply criticized Western governments, led by the United States, accusing them of complicity in alleged criminal actions by Israel, such as genocide and war crimes.
Protesters have vowed their support for Iraq’s influential Shia cleric, Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani, following his recent appeal for global benefactors to demonstrate solidarity with the Lebanese population. Al-Sistani has urged individuals and organizations worldwide to extend aid and support to Lebanon through all possible channels.
The demonstrators expressed their support and solidarity with regional resistance groups that have maintained their operations against the Israeli regime and its Western allies in recent months.
Since October of last year, the Islamic Resistance has conducted numerous operations in response to the intensifying conflict. This escalation followed the Israeli regime’s initiation of a military campaign against the Gaza Strip, widely perceived as genocidal, and its increased hostilities toward Lebanon.
Iraqi resistance groups have intensified their assaults on U.S. military installations in Iraq and Syria, in response to Washington’s comprehensive support for the regime through political, military, intelligence, and diplomatic channels, amid ongoing reported atrocities.
