Lavrov: Syria Opposition Responsible for Geneva 2 Delay

Russian Foreign Minister Sergai Lavrov says that the Syria opposition is responsible for delays in convening a planned international conference aimed at solving the current crisis in Syria.

“And the American officials recognize that the national coalition on which some outside sponsors want to put all the money is not ready not even to negotiate, but to decide who is in charge in this coalition,” Lavrov told the U.S. television station CBS.

Asked whether it is the opposition who are lagging as far as the planned international conference on Syria is concerned, Lavrov said: “Yes”.

“And this is very unfortunate because there are constructive groups including those who never left Syria and spent all these years together with the Syrian people,” he said.
