Iraqi Popular Forces Repulse ISIL’s Offensives at Border with Syria

The Iraqi volunteer forces of Hashd al-Shaabi engaged in fierce clashes with ISIL terrorists at the country’s border with Syria and managed to repel the terrorists’ heavy attacks.

The ISIL terrorists attacked the Hashd al-Shaabi forces’ positions in border regions with Syria twice, but failed to prevail over the Iraqi popular fighters’ defense lines.

The Hashd al-Shaabi fended off the ISIL’s offensives, killing a number of them and destroying four of their vehicles.

The media service of Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Forces, also known as Hashd al-Sha’abi, said in a statement on Sunday that the troops of the first and 13th brigades confronted an attack by ISIL militants near the Iraqi-Syrian borders.

“Ten ISIL members were killed, while a vehicle was burnt as the troops foiled the attack,” the statement added.
