Iraqi Prime Minister Maliki Warns against Takfiri Thought

20130324-123730_h474148Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki stressed that extremism has prevailed in the Arab countries backed by some sides that have shallow thoughts which deal with heritage in a selective and unbalanced way .

Opening the Festivity of Baghdad Capital of Arab Culture on Saturday, al-Maliki said the attacks of the extremists, violence advocates and Takfiris will not dissuade Baghdad from performing its cultural message and playing its creative role.

Talking about the Baghdad’s cultural role, al-Maliki stressed that the deterioration of Baghdad’s role is temporary as the city of peace will not surrender to this deterioration and it will not yield to the state of ignorance.

He pointed out that the Iraqi culture is distinguished by its diversity as it embraced the technical and the humanitarian sciences, in addition to medicine, engineering, chemistry, astronomy, literature, arts and philosophy.

Arab, Iraqi and Syrian official, cultural and media figures participated in the Festivity.

The 3-day Festivity will be concluded with operetta / I Saw Baghdad/, then the Arab cultural days will start, in addition to book fairs, theater, cinema and TV works.
