Lebanese Army thwarts ISIL’s attack in Ras Ba’albak

On Saturday, the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) launched a powerful assault on the Lebanese Army’s defenses at the Ba’abak Highlights in eastern Lebanon, resulting in a fierce battle that lasted for over 6 hours.

ISIS began the assault by storming the Lebanese Army’s defenses at Jaroud ‘Arsal and the Ba’albak Highlands; however, they were unable to infiltrate their front-lines after several attempts. Following the 6 hour long battle, ISIS was forced to withdraw their assault in the Ba’albak Highlands and Jaroud ‘Arsal; this allowed the Lebanese Army to restore security to the area.
