Kurdish fighters have retaken the Syrian town of Ayn Isa located near the ISIS stronghold city of Raqqah from the Takfiri terrorists, Press TV reports.

“The town is totally under the control of the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) after the death of dozens of mercenaries,” AFP quoted YPG forces as saying on Wednesday.

According to reports, a Kurdish female brigade (YPJ) helped them in the operation to liberate the town.

The so-called Syrian Observatory for Human Rights also reported that the town was back in Kurdish hands and that YPG fighters are currently rooting out Takfiri militants holed up in the town.

The ISIS militants seized the town on Monday following an assault against the Kurdish forces, who had the control of the city, located 55 kilometers (35 miles) from Raqqah.

The town holds strategic importance for the terrorists as it is located on an intersection on the main road from the northwestern Syrian province of Aleppo to the northeastern province of Hasakah.

Also on Wednesday, Syrian government troops and the fighters belonging to the Lebanese resistance movement, Hezbollah, made further advances into the northwestern areas of the Syrian border town of Zabadani.

According to a Hezbollah source, over 13 Takfiri militants and one Hezbollah fighter were killed during clashes in the town, located around eight kilometers from Lebanon’s eastern border.

On May 4, Syrian forces and the fighters of the resistance movement launched the ongoing battle to rid Zabadani and its surrounding mountainous regions from Takfiri forces.
