8 US-led soldiers die in Afghanistan

International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) says eight US-led soldiers have lost their lives in war-ravaged Afghanistan.

“Eight International Security Assistance Force service members died as a result of non-battle related injuries in southern Afghanistan yesterday (Saturday),” ISAF said in a Sunday statement.

According to the statement, the troops were killed in a vehicle accident that was not connected to any fighting or militant activity, AFP reported.

However, the brief statement did not provide more details.

The report comes as the US-led foreign forces encounter a climbing number of deadly attacks in war-torn Afghanistan.

According to the independent iCasualties.org website, at least 249 US-led soldiers, most of them Americans, have died in Afghanistan so far this year.

As the US-led force casualties persistently climb in Afghanistan, public opinion in the United States and other Western countries is increasingly turning against the Afghan war.

The security situation has steadily worsened across Afghanistan over the past few years despite the presence of around 150,000 US-led foreign troops in the the Asian country.
