IRGC Commander Calls Basij as Main Contributor to Iran’s Deterrent Power

“As long as Basij and Basij forces exist in Iran, the enemies are unlikely to make a folly and think of an aggression against the Iranian territory,” Jafari said.

Stressing that Basij forces’ full military preparedness is a deterrence to enemy threats, he said, “I have presented a report on the (very high) level of Basij’s preparedness to the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution (Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei) which pleased him.”

Elsewhere, Jafari referred to the enemies’ political, cultural and economic threats against Iran in recent years, and said the enemies assume that they can make the Iranian nation surrender to their illogical demands, but they ignore the fact that the Iranian people will continue resistance to the last drop of their blood.

In relevant remarks on Sunday, Commander of Iran’s Basij (volunteer) Force Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Naqdi said Iran is not afraid of the US military, but Washington’s allegations about the continued possibility of military action against Iran are nothing, but bluffing.

General Naqdi pointed to US President Barack Obama’s recent remarks who said that military option is on the table, and said, “These are just boastful remarks and bluffing because the US army and its economy are weak and their people do not accept to go to (another) war.

“The US does not have a strong logic and reasoning and it is, thus, forced to always resort to the language of force,” he said.

He reiterated that Iran will surely continue its fight against the global arrogance, and said, “Neither the (military) options on the table nor their execution can intimidate us, let alone boasting about them.”
