IRGC Commander: US, Israel Making Fruitless Attempts in Iraq, Lebanon

Lieutenant Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Rear Admiral Ali Fadavi highlighted the US and Israel's role in recent unrests in Iraq and Lebanon, stressing that their attempts are futile.

“The US and Israel’s role in the recent developments in Iraq and Lebanon is malignant and they are not expected any other than this,” Rear Admiral Fadavi told FNA on Tuesday.

He added that Tel Aviv and Washington have been harmed a lot by the popular moves inspired by the Islamic Revolution and “they naturally sometimes make fruitless attempts due to their fear and concerns to distort security of the Islamic states and the resistance front”.

In relevant remarks on Monday, Head of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps Public Relations Department and IRGC Spokesman General Ramezan Sharif warned of the suspicious moves made by the worldwide US missions to create problem for the host states.

“Today, we understand that the US embassies in any country are the source and origin of problems in those countries,” General Sharif said in the Western city of Shahr-e Kord, addressing a ceremony to mark the anniversary of the US embassy takeover in 1979 and commemorate the National Day of Campaign against Global Arrogance and the National Student Day.

“Supporting the regional dictators, suppression of people, stopping the nations’ freedom-seeking voice and providing ground for plundering and humiliating the nations are among the US embassies’ performance in other countries,” he added.

Also, on Sunday, former IRGC Commander Major General Mohammad Ali Jafari blamed the US embassy in Baghdad for hatching plots and leading the unrests in Iraq.

“Undoubtedly, today’s problems in Iraq have been created due to the presence of the Americans and the country’s embassy in Iraq; the Iraqi nation should know that as long as they do not get rid of the Americans and they remain in Iraq, the Americans always hatch plots and contact and provoke the deceived or dissatisfied people,” General Jafari said.

He added that the US does not easily give up countries where it sees its interests, warning that it will empower people who move in line with Washington’s interests.

Jafari also highlighted Saudi Arabia’s role in recent unrests in Iraq.
