Members of the ISIL Takfiri terrorist group have burned to death nine people in the northern Iraqi city of Mosul.

A local source, speaking on condition of anonymity, said young ISIL members executed the victims in the central Bab al-Toub neighborhood of the city, which is located some 400 kilometers (248 miles) north of the capital, Baghdad, on Wednesday.

The victims, all men, had been accused of ‘collaboration with government forces and espionage,’ the Arabic-language al-Sumaria satellite television network reported.

Earlier in the day, Iraqi media reported that ISIL extremists also executed a journalist in Mosul. Akram Suleiman, the head of the Iraqi Kurdistan Journalists Syndicate’s branch in Mosul, said the terrorists killed Jala Adnan during the Eid al-Fitr holiday, which marked the end of the holy Muslim fasting month of Ramadan.

Suleiman added that the latest death brings to 10 the number of journalists killed at the hands of ISIL ever since Mousl fell to the Takfiri militants on June 10, 2014.

Meanwhile, Iraqi military aircraft have carried out precision strikes against terrorist hideouts in the city of Shirqat, located some 300 kilometers (190 miles) north of Baghdad, killing 10 ISIL members.

Commander of the Federal Police Forces Lieutenant General Raed Shaker Jawdat also said security forces thwarted an ISIL offensive against the al-Madhiq region, which lies east of Anbar’s provincial capital city of Ramadi, and killed 14 extremists. Three vehicles belonging to ISIL terrorists were also destroyed.

ISIL started its campaign of terror in Iraq in early June 2014. The heavily armed terrorist group took control of Mosul before sweeping through parts of the country’s heartland.

Iraqi soldiers, police units, Kurdish forces, and Shia and Sunni volunteers are engaged in battles with the terrorists to drive them out of the areas under their control.
