ISIL Fails to Remove Syrian Army Siege in Deserts of Sweida

The Syrian Army troops repelled a heavy offensive launched by the ISIL to lift government forces’ siege on terrorists trapped in the Eastern deserts of Sweida to further move towards al-Tanf region in Southern Homs near the border with Jordan and Iraq, a military source said on Saturday.

The army men opened heavy fire at a group of terrorists that tried to prevail over the government forces’ positions in the rocks in the Eastern deserts of Sweida, inflicting major losses on them and repelling their attack.

The terrorists further failed to lift the army siege and move towards al-Tanf region in Southern Homs near the border with Jordan and Iraq.

In the meantime, the army’s artillery and missile units pounded ISIL’s positions in Toloul al-Safa, inflicting heavy casualties on the terrorists and destroying their military equipment.

Field sources said that the army has fortified its positions in the Northern and Western directions of Toloul al-Safa and set up more positions in Um Marzakh and in the heights near Qabr Sheikh Hossein.

On Wednesday, the Syrian army forces continued advancing in the Eastern deserts of Sweida, pushing ISIL into a full collapse after destroying a main command post of the terrorists in region.

The army men engaged in a tough battle with ISIL in Tal Abu Qanem in the depth of the Eastern deserts of Sweida, and established their rule over Qabr Eid Hanish in Toloul al-Safa.

Other units of the army managed to advance in Qabr Sheikh Hossein and Um Marzakh flanks and captured several points, including Hawa Awaz Pond.

In the meantime, the army’s artillery and missile units pounded ISIL’s strongholds and movements in Sweida’s Eastern deserts, and destroyed a key command post and a position in a region between Khirbet al-Hawi and Um Marzakh, inflicting major losses on the terrorists.

Other units of the army, liberated a large area in the rocks in Toloul al-Safa and fortified the newly-captured positions.

Field sources said that ISIL front is collapsing after the army managed to advance in the difficult-to-move region in Toloul al-Safa.
