ISIL formed to incite sectarian strife: Velayati

377353_Iran-ISILThe ISIL Takfiri terrorist group has been formed by the Western governments and their regional allies as part of a scenario to create sectarian strife among Muslims, a senior Iranian official says.

Speaking at a Monday press conference, Ali Akbar Velayati, a senior advisor to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, said the ISIL is following in the footsteps of the terrorist Taliban which was established in Afghanistan decades ago.

Such “deviant rebellious” groups have been created “to boost extremism” and to incite internecine wars among Muslims, he added.

Velayati reaffirmed Iran’s determination to support Muslims and the Islamic resistance and noted that “Iran’s interest lies in the defeat of the ISIL, salvation of democracy by the Iraqi and Syrian governments and the victory of Palestine.”
In recent years, several Muslim countries including Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Nigeria have become the scene of atrocious crimes against humanity by Takfiri groups.

Meanwhile, the ISIL terrorists have committed heinous crimes and threatened all communities, including Shias, Sunnis, Kurds, Christians and Izadi Kurds, during their advances in Iraq and Syria.
