Syrian Army on Verge of Capturing Energy-Rich Regions in Eastern Homs

The Syrian Army troops continued to score more victories against ISIL terrorists in Eastern Homs, inching closer to win back two key oil and gas fields, a military source said.

The source said that the army soldiers have been engaged in very fierce clashes with ISIL near the energy-rich fields of al-Sha’er and Jazal, wining back terrorists’ positions one after another in the key region.

The source added that al-Sha’er oilfield will come under the army’s control soon.

The source went on to say that ISIL’s defense lines are collapsing and the terrorists are continuously retreating from energy-rich regions.

Another Syrian source said that the army’s engineering units are defusing hundreds of handmade bombs and landmines planted across the regions around the oil and gas fields and along the roads to al-Bayarat al-Qarbi region.

The source said the army’s engineering units try to cleanse the region to pave the ground for faster and easier advances of the army towards the oil and gas fields.

The Syrian and Russian fighter jets meantime have been bombing ISIL’s positions in al-Tar and al-Heil heights, the source said, adding that the army is advancing against ISIL slowly in the region due to natural barriers and heights.

In relevant developments in the province on Sunday, the army troops took full control of Western Torfeh farms near al-Bayarat region West of Palmyra city.

The ISIL terrorists sustained heavy losses and casualties in tough battle with the Syrian army troops.

Meantime, a military source said that the Syrian army has fortified its military positions in the surrounding areas of al-Bayarat region and the army’s engineering units are defusing mines and bombs from the liberated areas in Eastern Homs.
