Sayyed Nasrallah: Sheikh al-Azhar’s Stances Responsible

Hezbollah Secretary General hailed the latest stances made by Sheikh Al-Azhar Dr. Ahmad Tayeb. His eminence expressed full respect for the cleric’s statements, especially those related to the Shiites, Sunnis, and the necessity to achieve rapprochement among Muslims. “Sheikh Al-Azhar did not speak of general, wasted slogans but went straight to the deepness,” Sayyed Nasrallah said.

His eminence stressed that Sheikh Al-Azhar’s stances were responsible, and that they were at the level of the challenges facing the nation. “We used to say that the divisions were political, but many sides insisted to give them sectarian and religious aspects. Now, it has been proven that whoever resorts to a sectarian rhetoric is the weak one who has neither a cause nor logic,” Sayyed Nasrallah went on to say.

Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah said on Tuesday that Hezbollah would overcome the conspiracy of the international tribunal and emerge stronger than before. His eminence asserted that one hundred indictments against Hezbollah would not change anything in the balance.

Sayyed Nasrallah declared his support for the dialogue initiative launched by President Michel Sleiman, and denied claims that Hezbollah was not serious in dealing with the dialogue, recalling all political factions that the Resistance party was the first to present its defensive strategy.

RESISTANCE CANNOT BE SHAKEN BY BELLEMARE

Hezbollah Secretary General stressed that the dreams of some politicians that the international tribunal would get rid of the Resistance would not become true. “How could a Resistance that was not hit by the strongest air force in the region to be shaken by (STL Prosecutor Daniel) Bellemare and company?” his eminence wondered.

“You remember that in this particular ceremony last year, we started confronting the new conspiracy against the Resistance,” his eminence said. “At the time, I said that we could not forgive in this regard and we were serious, while some people sought that things could be resolved through some kind of compromise.”

Referring to former Prime Minister Saad Hariri without naming him, Sayyed Nasrallah noted that some politicians were seeking a compromise stating that they remain in power and that resistance fighters be unjustly accused of involvement in the assassination of former Prime Minister Rafiq Hariri’s case. “This was not acceptable at any price,” Sayyed Nasrallah said.

A resistance that was not shaken by the most powerful air force in the region will not be shaken by (STL Prosecutor Daniel) Bellemare, (STL Pre-Trial Judge Daniel) Fransen or (STL President Antonio) Cassese,” Sayyed Nasrallah declared.

“I tell them that their weak hopes that the STL could put an end to the Resistance would fail, just like their big hopes in the July 2006 war against Hezbollah failed,” Sayyed Nasrallah went on to say. “Hezbollah has overcome the July war that was aimed at crushing the Resistance and emerged stronger than before. The same scenario will repeat itself as Hezbollah will overcome the tribunal conspiracy and emerge stronger than before, God willing.”
