Islamic Iran Cautions about Consequences of Wrong Approach towards Syria

Iran called on the international community to deal with the issue of Syria cautiously, and warned that a wrong approach to the settlement of the current crisis in Syria will trouble the whole region.

Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi said that the Syrian issue should be handled with caution.

“The countries that are in one way or another sensitive to the Syrian issue should act in such a way as to ultimately bring about no remorse,” Salehi stated.

He stressed that the Syrian government must be given enough time to implement the peace plan proposed by the joint UN and Arab League envoy to Syria, Kofi Annan.

Iran expects the advancement of Annan’s plan, and maintains that Syria should be given time to put the plan into practice, he said.

Saudi Arabia and Qatar are blamed for the terrorist blasts in Syria as they have overtly and covertly rendered logistical and financial support for armed rebels and terrorist groups in Syria.

Syria has been experiencing unrest since March 2011 with organized attacks by well-armed gangs against Syrian police forces and border guards being reported across the country.

Hundreds of people, including members of the security forces, have been killed, when some protest rallies turned into armed clashes.

The government blames outlaws, saboteurs, and armed terrorist groups for the deaths, stressing that the unrest is being orchestrated from abroad.

In October, calm was eventually restored in the Arab state after President Assad started a reform initiative in the country, but Israel, the US and its Arab allies are seeking hard to bring the country into chaos through any possible means. Tel Aviv, Washington and some Arab capitals have been staging various plots in the hope of stirring unrests in Syria once again.
