Israeli Forces Launch Assault on Syrian Military Bases, Kills 10 in Daraa

Israeli forces initiated airstrikes targeting military airbases and infrastructure locations in the Syrian cities of Damascus, Hama, and Homs. This offensive coincided with a ground operation in the southern region of the country on Wednesday night.

The Syrian foreign ministry reported that an assault on Hama military airport resulted in near-total destruction of the infrastructure, causing numerous injuries to both civilians and military personnel.

Syrian state media and officials have reported that military operations have targeted the Hama military airport as well as the area surrounding the scientific research center located in the Barzeh neighborhood of Damascus.

According to a Syrian military source cited by Reuters, a series of approximately twelve strikes resulted in the destruction of runways, the control tower, arms depots, and hangars at a military airport.

According to a source, Israel has carried out a comprehensive destruction of the Hama airbase, with the intent of rendering it unusable. This operation appears to be part of a broader strategy to systematically dismantle the military capabilities of the nation’s principal airbases.

Syrian state media reports that Israeli airstrikes have been carried out on multiple locations throughout Syria. Among the targeted sites were the Scientific Research Center in Barzeh, Damascus, and military facilities in Hama, which suffered significant damage.

The Hama airbase, located to the west of the city, stands as a crucial military installation in the country, having been heavily utilized throughout the 13-year conflict involving Assad and the rebel forces prior to his ousting.

The Israeli military announced on Wednesday that it conducted strikes on the T4 airbase in Homs province, a location it has targeted multiple times over the past week.

Daraa Witnesses Incursion

According to reports from Syrian state media on Thursday morning, clashes erupted overnight between Israeli forces and local residents in the Al-Jabaliya area of Daraa province, resulting in the deaths of 10 individuals.
