Israel conducts military operations in the West Bank, resulting in the displacement of 44,000 Palestinians since January 21

The Israeli Defense Forces have carried out additional operations in multiple cities and refugee camps throughout the occupied West Bank. The raids involved active engagement with Palestinian residents, including heavy gunfire and forcible evacuations from homes.

According to reports, Israeli forces launched operations in the Jenin, Tulkarm, Nur Shams, Askar, and Balata refugee camps, all located in the northern West Bank, leading to confrontations with Palestinian residents.

According to reports, additional raids were conducted on the Shu’fat, Aida, and al-Arroub camps, situated near the cities of Jerusalem, Bethlehem, and Hebron, respectively.

In the latest developments, Israeli forces have launched operations in the city of Nablus and the towns of Yatta and Attil.

In the Nur Shams refugee camp, occupation forces carried out demolitions and searches of Palestinian homes, issuing evacuation orders to residents.

Nihad al-Shawish, the leader of the Popular Committee for Services in Nur Shams, reported that conditions within the camp have become critically severe due to the continuous Israeli offensive.

An observer reported that Israeli forces are engaging in widespread firing within the camp, targeting any movement. Numerous families are reportedly confined to their homes, exposed to significant risk, as critical services including water and electricity have been disrupted.

Shawish reported that the Israeli military is engaging in severe mistreatment of residents, forcibly entering homes, deploying live ammunition and stun grenades, and issuing threats in an apparent attempt to evacuate the camp’s inhabitants.

On January 21, the Israeli military commenced an offensive operation in the occupied West Bank, stating that its objective was to target members of the Jenin Battalion, who are characterized as resistance fighters.

Since October 7, 2023, there has been a notable escalation in violence in the West Bank, as Israeli operations in the Gaza Strip continue. Reports indicate that Israeli forces have been involved in actions resulting in the deaths of at least 910 Palestinians in the occupied West Bank during this period.

A recent report indicates that approximately 44,000 Palestinians have been displaced in the northern region of the West Bank. This development comes amid ongoing tensions and conflicts in the area, leading to significant upheaval for local communities. Details surrounding the causes and potential resolutions for this displacement are still unfolding.

The Israeli incursion has resulted in the displacement of 44,000 Palestinians in the northern West Bank since January 21, as reported by the Paris-based International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH).

Diana Alzeer, Vice President of the International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH), described the current conditions in the West Bank as the most severe since the second Intifada. She indicated that the nature and tactics of recent attacks resemble those employed during what she termed as Israel’s genocidal campaign in Gaza. Alzeer urged for substantial international intervention to compel Israeli authorities to cease their lethal operations in the West Bank.
