Israel extends its presence by increasing deployments in Syria’s Daraa region following the governance of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS)
The Israeli government has reportedly sent additional military forces to the southwestern Syrian province of Daraa, signaling a potential strategy to extend its presence within Syrian territory. This development follows the collapse of Bashar al-Assad's administration.

In a report aired late Saturday, Lebanon’s al-Mayadeen television network disclosed that the Israeli defense forces have deployed additional troops to the village of Ma’ariya, situated in the Daraa countryside near the Syrian-Jordanian border.
According to reports from a Lebanese television channel, which cite anonymous sources, Israeli forces have erected substantial concrete barriers and have resurfaced all access roads leading to their barracks.
According to sources, the Israeli military has initiated armored patrols along the foothills of Mount Hermon, positioned at the strategic border between Syria and Lebanon.
Since the overthrow of the previous government by militant forces, the regime has engaged in intermittent assaults on multiple regions across Syria.
On Saturday, Israel conducted airstrikes targeting military installations in the vicinity of Latakia, a key port city in northwestern Syria.
Two days prior, the regime conducted airstrikes on military installations located south of Aleppo, resulting in significant explosions and subsequent fires in the region.
On Thursday, a Lebanese television network reported that Israeli forces have advanced to the al-Mantara Dam in the Quneitra countryside, which is recognized as the largest dam in southern Syria. The report highlighted that the occupying forces have now taken control of six key strategic water resources in the southern region.
Israeli forces are reportedly preparing for an extended deployment in Syrian territory, as reported by Israeli news outlet Walla. This development follows increased pressure from European parties urging Israel to adjust its military stance. Nonetheless, Israeli political leaders have instructed the defense forces to ready themselves for a prolonged presence in the region.
The Israeli forces have taken control of approximately 600 kilometers of Syrian land following the overthrow of the Assad administration last month by the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) militants.
On December 8, militants seized control of Damascus, announcing the termination of President Assad’s regime following an unexpected offensive. This assault originated from their northwestern Syrian stronghold, successfully advancing to the capital in under two weeks.
