Israel FM employees plan to go on strike

Israeli foreign ministry workers plan to go on a strike after the authorities did not keep their promise to improve salary conditions.

The employees of the political department of the ministry will meet on Tuesday to decide on a fresh strike over delays in signing a pay rise deal which was reached in January after a month-long walkout, Israeli sources said.

Hanan Godar, the head of the Ministry’s Political Employees Committee, said that the workers complained about the delay in signing the deal.

Godar noted that the employees have only received their base salary and the promised increase has not been paid yet.

In another strike on Sunday, nearly all public hospitals were closed as the Israel Medical Association adopted more drastic measures to realize doctors’ call for higher payments and better working conditions, Ha’aretz reported.

The strike affected all public hospitals except for Rebecca Sieff Hospital in Safed.

Meanwhile, day hospitalization centers will be closed in all hospitals in north of Tel Aviv on Tuesday.

Negotiations between the doctors and the treasury remain deadlocked, and talks have not resumed since last Tuesday when representatives of the two sides last met.
