A Palestinian was killed and at least another was injured in Israeli artillery shelling of eastern Gaza on Monday evening, medical sources reported.
Adham Abu Salmiya, media coordinator of military medical services, said that preliminary reports indicated that an Israeli reconnaissance plane fired at the area along with the artillery shelling.
He said that Bassam Badwan, 32, was instantly killed while another was wounded. He added, however, that residents in the area said that three were injured in the attack.
Abu Salmiya said that contacts were made with the Red Cross to allow ambulances into the area to evacuate the wounded.
