An Israeli drone has gone down in the waters off the blockaded Gaza Strip, witnesses say.

Eyewitnesses said the Israeli unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) crashed near the Sudaniyah district in northern Gaza Strip on Friday evening, the Palestine 48 website reported.

The report came after the Israeli military bombed an area near the Nuseirat refugee camp, injuring four people.

Israeli paper Jerusalem Post quoted the Israeli military as saying that its warplanes had targeted a base belonging to the Gaza-based Palestinian resistance movement Hamas.

The Israeli military also said the attack was carried out in response to an alleged rocket attack from Gaza earlier on Friday.

The Israeli military often targets Palestinians in the Gaza Strip which remains literally cut off from the outside world by a crippling Israeli siege.

Since 2007, the Tel Aviv regime has launched three wars on the impoverished Palestinian enclave with a population of more than 1.8 million people.

Israel launched its latest onslaught against Gaza in early July 2014. The offensive ended in late August 2014, with a truce that took effect after indirect negotiations between Hamas and Israeli officials in the Egyptian capital city of Cairo.

Over 2,200 Palestinians were killed and some 11,100 others wounded in Israel’s 50-day military aggression.
