Israeli Drone Strike in Southern Lebanon Killed One, Three Injured

A series of Israeli drone strikes on southern Lebanon have resulted in the death of one individual and left three others injured.

Reports from local news agencies on Thursday indicated that an Israeli drone conducted an attack on a civilian vehicle traveling on a highway in the Khalde region, situated south of Beirut near the Martyr Salah Ghandour roundabout in Bint Jbeil, Nabatieh Governorate. The strike resulted in the death of at least one individual and left two others injured.

A second drone strike has targeted a residential building in the town of Shebaa, situated in the Hasbaya District, resulting in injuries to one individual.

Under the terms of the ceasefire agreement signed on November 27, which called for a full withdrawal of Zionist forces from Southern Lebanon, Israeli forces were expected to vacate the area completely. Nevertheless, they continue to maintain a military presence at five strategic border outposts.

The Israeli military has reported launching attacks in southern Lebanon, aiming to target the Hezbollah resistance movement.

Despite a ceasefire between the two neighboring sides, Israeli forces have persisted in conducting almost daily operations in southern Lebanon following the extensive military assault initiated in 2023, which intensified into a comprehensive conflict by 2024.

Authorities have documented close to 3,000 breaches of the ceasefire by Israeli forces, resulting in the deaths of at least 225 individuals and injuries to over 500 others.

According to official data, the ongoing conflict has resulted in over 4,000 fatalities, left more than 17,000 individuals injured, and forced nearly 1.4 million people to abandon their homes.

The southern Lebanon border and the Israeli-occupied territory have been under the surveillance of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) for several decades. UNIFIL has documented numerous violations committed by Israeli forces, which have often gone unpunished.

Sheikh Naim Qassem, the secretary general of Lebanon’s Hezbollah resistance movement, has asserted that the Israeli regime aims to undermine Lebanon by maintaining aggression, occupation, and exerting political pressure. He emphasized that the nation’s strength emanates from its resistance front, armed forces, and its people.
