‘Israeli’ Raid on Gaza Aimed at Reinstating Deterrence against Palestinians: Islamic Jihad

On Sunday, Mohammed al-Hindi, the head of the Islamic Jihad’s political bureau, declared that the heavily-armed occupying regime was unable to achieve victory against the besieged Gaza.

He stated that the Zionist regime had launched an offensive based on the misconception that killing the leaders of Islamic Jihad would bring back its deterrent capabilities, however it was nothing more than a figment of their imagination.

The war showed that the Palestinian nation is not vulnerable to the threats posed by Israel, with Benjamin Netanyahu having to implore for a ceasefire.

Hindi stated that the occupiers had apprehensions about Hamas’ direct engagement in the conflict.

He commented that the resistance had not sacrificed anything and that the martyrs had become symbols and leaders for all those seeking freedom around the world. He also highlighted that Iran is the only country that is giving its utmost support to the Palestinians.

The official from Islamic Jihad stressed the importance of Egypt in brokering the truce.

On May 9, the Israeli government in Tel Aviv began a destructive bombing campaign on Gaza, leading to the Islamic Jihad launching more than 1,000 rockets towards the Israeli-occupied territories.

On Saturday night, an Egyptian-brokered ceasefire was put into effect following five days of fighting between the two sides.

At least 33 Palestinians, including six children, were killed and 147 wounded in aerial assaults conducted by Israel, as reported by the Palestinian Health Ministry. Furthermore, several Islamic Jihad leaders were among those martyred.

The 2021 10-day war between Gaza’s resistance factions and Israel was the worst episode of fighting between the two sides since then.
