Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei, Leader of the Islamic Revolution in Iran, informed the visiting Iraqi President Abdul Latif Rashid that the US holds no friendship towards Iraq.

At a gathering in Tehran on Saturday, the Leader highlighted the significance of Iraq’s progress, prosperity, independence, and progress for the Islamic Republic of Iran and noted that the expansion of mutual cooperation and the realization of agreements are beneficial to both countries.

His eminence stated, as reported by Tasnim news agency, that the Islamic Republic of Iran is committed to supporting Iraq and desires to see it progress.

Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei has deemed it essential to fully implement the agreements made between Iran and its partners, with particular emphasis on recent security and economic agreements, according to Khamenei.ir.

He stated that since there are strong historical and religious ties between Iran and Iraq, the deepening of relations between the two countries has created powerful adversaries. Without these ties, the relationship between the two nations could have reverted back to the status quo during Saddam’s reign.

The Leader praised the Iraqi people for their graciousness in receiving Iranian pilgrims during both Arbaeen and non-Arbaeen days, even though there had been an eight-year-long war between the two countries in the past.

Imam Khamenei emphasized the importance of the unifying factors between two nations and countries that external political factors cannot influence, and the need for serious care and vigilance to further deepen the relationship and ensure its continuation.

At the meeting, which Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi also attended, Iraqi President Abdul Latif Rashid voiced his pleasure at being able to meet with the Leader of the Islamic Revolution. He stated that Iraq has a solid and strong relationship with the Islamic Republic of Iran in various realms.

Rashid declared that Iraq is putting all of its energy into strengthening its relationship with Iran and carrying out the leftover topics between the two nations, citing his meetings and conversations with Iranian officials.

The Iraqi president expressed his gratitude towards the Iranian government and people for the help and support they have provided to his nation in various periods, especially in its battle against terrorism.
