Israeli Strikes Hit Ambulances and Health Center in Southern Lebanon Amid Truce Violations

Israeli airstrikes have targeted Lebanese civil defense teams, ambulances, and a civil defense headquarters in southern Lebanon, further breaching the fragile ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon.

The Israeli military announced that it conducted an airstrike on Thursday, targeting a Hezbollah member in the vicinity of Alma al-Shaab. This marks the latest in a series of recent attacks in the region.

According to a report by Lebanon’s official National News Agency (NNA), an Israeli drone strike targeted a vehicle in a village near the border, resulting in one individual sustaining injuries.

Reports have emerged of an Israeli drone strike in Bint Jbeil, located in southern Lebanon, which resulted in two individuals being wounded. The attack specifically targeted a vehicle in the area.

In a pre-dawn offensive on Thursday, Israeli airstrikes targeted two ambulances, a fire truck, and demolished a temporary health center operated by the Islamic Health Association in the town of Naqoura, situated near the border.

The Islamic Health Association (IHA) reported that Israeli forces conducted three aggressive airstrikes on the newly established Civil Defense Center in the town of Naqoura at dawn today. The attacks resulted in the complete destruction of the center, with significant damage inflicted on two ambulances and a fire truck. Fortunately, no injuries were sustained by the paramedics due to what the IHA described as “divine mercy.”

The statement highlighted that this act of aggression is one in a succession of daily violations and assaults carried out by the adversary. It emphasized that these actions are a continuation of the crimes initiated during its recent conflict with Lebanon, as evidenced by its intentional targeting of ambulance personnel.

The Lebanese Ministry of Public Health has issued a statement denouncing Israel for its ongoing attacks on the healthcare sector.

According to the media office of the ministry, the recent strike contributes to the ongoing series of attacks by the Israeli forces on civilian healthcare facilities since the onset of the aggression.

The ministry has once again urged the global community to pay heed to the seriousness of these violations, emphasizing that they represent a flagrant infringement of international laws, the charters of humanitarian organizations, and recognized standards.

This marks another instance where the Tel Aviv administration has violated the ceasefire that was established in November of the previous year.

Israel launched airstrikes on Beirut’s southern suburb on Tuesday, resulting in multiple casualties, including a Hezbollah official and his son.

The Tel Aviv government has persisted in conducting lethal strikes on Lebanese soil since the truce agreement was established, reportedly breaching the agreement over 1,500 times.

The latest assaults were launched just a day following a visit by Israel’s minister of military affairs, Israel Katz, to an Israeli outpost situated on Lebanese land close to the town of Markaba.

Katz declared that Israel’s presence in southern Lebanon would continue indefinitely. “Our presence here has no specified timeframe. It is contingent upon the evolving situation,” he stated.

Israel’s armed forces maintain their presence at five strategic points along the frontier within southern Lebanon, a stance they adopted after the November 2024 ceasefire agreement.

This is in addition to the Lebanese territory that has been under alleged illegal occupation by Israel for several decades.

Israel was expected to withdraw all its military forces from southern Lebanon following the implementation of the ceasefire agreement.

The New York Times has conducted an analysis of satellite imagery, revealing that Israeli forces have been actively constructing a series of military installations and fortifications in southern Lebanon.

Following significant setbacks over nearly 14 months of hostilities and failing to meet its objectives in the offensive against Lebanon, Israel found itself compelled to consent to a ceasefire with Hezbollah. The ceasefire took effect on November 27.

Following the initiation of the agreement, occupying forces have been carrying out attacks on Lebanon, breaching the ceasefire terms with airstrikes across the Arab country.

Lebanon announced on January 27 that it will extend its ceasefire with Israel until February 18.
