Syrian Army Hits Convoy of ISIL Vehicles near Deir Ezzur

The Syrian Army troops attacked a column of militant groups’ vehicles on a road in the Eastern province of Deir Ezzur, informed sources said Friday, adding that the attack inflicted major damage on the militants.

“The Syrian army destroyed a long convoy of ISIL vehicles equipped with heavy machineguns on a road linking al-Jneineh with Mheimida, which also claimed the lives of the convoy’s guards,” the sources said.

“The army’s artillery units, meantime, opened fire at several gatherings of ISIL terrorists in al-Baqaliyeh, Ayash, al-Hosseiniyeh and al-Jneineh, killing and wounding several militants,” the sources added.

Also on Friday, the Syrian army announced that the country’s warplanes, in a fresh round of massive air assault, bombed several centers of the ISIL across Deir Ezzur and destroyed one of their main headquarters on the outskirts of Deir Ezzur city.

“The Syrian warplanes launched a total of 18 airstrikes over the gathering centers and sites of the ISIL in the provincial capital’s districts of Sheikh Yasseen, al-Kanamat, al-Hwaiqa, and al-Sina’ah,” the army said, adding, “The Syrian fighter jets struck ISIL headquarters inside the provincial capital, destroying the entire infrastructure of this building that is located in the al-Hamidiyah district near the government-controlled al-Jubeileh district.

The ISIL suffered a heavy death toll in the air attacks.
