Larijani affirms Iran’s backing for resistance efforts, reports having delivered the Leader’s message to Lebanon

A senior advisor to Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, has reaffirmed the country's unwavering support for the regional Front of Resistance, emphasizing that this backing will persist regardless of the circumstances.

Ali Larijani addressed the media in Beirut on Friday after holding discussions with Lebanon’s Parliament Speaker, Nabih Berri.

In addressing inquiries regarding the Islamic Republic’s continued backing of resistance movements, Larijani dismissed the notion, remarking, “It seems you have mistakenly taken humor for reality. Who has made such claims?”

He affirmed unwavering support for the resistance, emphasizing that his ongoing visit to Lebanon was intended to communicate this stance.

In a statement, officials emphasized their commitment to backing the Lebanese populace and addressing their aspirations, expressing hope for the swift improvement of the nation’s circumstances.

The former Speaker of Parliament expressed hope that residents displaced by ongoing Israeli military operations in southern Lebanon would soon be able to return to their homes.

Since October of last year, Israeli forces have significantly intensified their military operations against Lebanon, resulting in the deaths of over 3,360 individuals and causing damage to approximately 100,000 residences.

An Iranian official voiced assurance in Hezbollah’s ability to safeguard Lebanon, stating, “Hezbollah stands as a formidable force, much like the resilient Lebanese nation.”

Larijani asserted that both the movement and the Lebanese populace were fully cognizant of the necessary measures to defend the nation against the actions of the Israeli regime and its allies.

**Message from the Leader**

The official stated that he had delivered a message from Ayatollah Khamenei to Berri, but refrained from disclosing any details regarding its contents.

In response to a statement made by Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati earlier today, Ali Larijani offered his remarks, highlighting Mikati’s emphasis on Lebanon’s commitment to prioritizing the implementation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701.

A resolution, enacted to conclude the 2006 conflict initiated by Israel against Lebanon, has entrusted the United Nations peacekeeping forces with maintaining security in southern Lebanon.

Larijani stated that they back any significant matter endorsed by both the Lebanese authorities and the resistance.

The official was queried on whether Iran aimed to “obstruct” a reported ceasefire proposal that the United States ambassador to Lebanon submitted to Berri on Thursday.

In response to Israeli military actions, which have resulted in substantial casualties in Lebanon, Hezbollah has launched numerous counteroffensive operations.

“We are not seeking to cause disruption; rather, our aim is to address and resolve issues,” stated Larijani. “We stand in support of the Lebanese people in all situations.”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his associates have been accused of creating disruptions. It is crucial to distinguish between allies and adversaries in such circumstances.

On Thursday, Ali Larijani held discussions with President Bashar al-Assad in Damascus.

Both parties emphasized the urgent necessity of halting what they termed as Israel’s genocidal actions in Gaza and the ongoing violence in Lebanon.

In a recent assembly in the Syrian capital, Ali Larijani, a high-ranking official, convened with leaders of Palestinian resistance factions, reaffirming the Islamic Republic of Iran’s unwavering support for their cause.
