Leader Attends Ashura Ceremony, Martyr Suleimani Present
Supreme Leader of the Islamic Ummah and Oppressed Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei attended a mourning ceremony held at Imam Khomeini Husseiniyah on Friday night.
Photo of former commander of IRGC’s Quds Force, martyr Qassem Suleimani appeared in front of Imam Khamenei during the mourning night called “Sham Ghariban”, observed between 10th Muharram and 11th Muharram.
The word Sham means night and Ghariban means poor or oppressed. Following the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS) and his companions in the battle of Karbala, the Imam’s household (women and children) were held captives by the army of Umayyad caliph Yazid.
