‘Leader decides whether to hold political talks with US or not’:Salehi

Iran’s Foreign Minister, Ali Akbar Salehi, has said that the Leader of Islamic Revolution decides on whether to hold comprehensive political talks with US or not.

According to IRIB World Service, in an interview with IRNA on Monday morning, Iran’s foreign minister said that: “Negotiations on particular subjects have up to now been held with the US such as talks about Iraq and Afghanistan. Also talks on Iran’s peaceful nuclear activities case have also been held within the framework of talks of Iran and 5+1 Group, which the US is a member of. Meanwhile, the Leader of Islamic Revolution is the one who decides whether to hold comprehensive political talks with the US or not.”
Furthermore, Iran’s foreign minister added that he was not aware of the precise intention of the US State Secretary, Hillary Clinton’s call for Tehran-Washington direct talks, while adding that: “If she is referring to political talks; that is a separate issue, whose decision-maker is the Leader of Islamic Revolution. But, if she is referring to talks on Iran’s peaceful nuclear activities case, this is currently underway and it is not a very important issue.”
