Leader emphasizes importance of strengthening Iran-Turkmenistan ties
Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, has emphasized the importance of strengthening ties between Iran and Turkmenistan.

During a meeting with Turkmenistan’s National Leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow in Tehran on Wednesday, Ayatollah Khamenei remarked that although relations between Iran and Turkmenistan have significantly improved in recent years, there is still considerable potential for increased cooperation.
“The Leader expressed hope that with President Pezeshkian’s new administration, the growth of relations between the two nations will proceed with greater vigor.”
Ayatollah Khamenei emphasized collaborative development initiatives, such as building a highway connecting the two nations and extending a joint gas pipeline. He remarked that the participation of Iranian experts in these projects would enhance the friendship between the two countries.
Berdimuhamedow mentioned that he had engaged in “productive and beneficial” discussions with President Masoud Pezeshkian and conveyed his optimism that the agreements reached by both parties would lead to favorable outcomes.
The Turkmen leader also paid tribute to the late President Ebrahim Raeisi, commending his endeavors to fortify the relationship between the two countries.
Berdimuhamedow assured that the extensive border shared by Iran and Turkmenistan will continue to be a “frontier of peace and friendship,” while highlighting his administration’s commitment to strengthening cooperation across multiple sectors.
On Wednesday morning, Berdimuhamedow landed at Tehran’s Mehrabad Airport to engage in high-level discussions with Iranian leaders.
Earlier in the day, he engaged in discussions with Pezeshkian, resulting in the signing of four cooperation agreements across diverse sectors, such as gas and customs.
