Iraq army, volunteer forces battling ISIL in north Tikrit

Iraqi forces volunteers and tribesmen had set the zero hour to start the attack on isil militants in alam, the attack took place from the hadida point north east tikrit and moved towards tal koseibah.

Iraqi artillery and tanks shelled the area paving the way for ground forces to advance.

Iraqi army tried dismantling explosive devises set on the road despite all measures taken 3 explosive devices went off.This operation will now pave the way for the attack on tikrit which as per officials had become near.

The aim from this operation is to reach alam and dour as a first step then secure the fatha area to cut militants supply and prevent them from fleeing towards mosul
