Leader of Islamic Ummah Imam Khamenei’s remarks about Nuclear Negotiations and Yemen

The Leader of Islamic Ummah and Oppressed People Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei, has made some important statements and comments on Thursday, about the on-going nuclear negotiations and events in Yemen, in a meeting with a gathering of poets, writers, and eulogists of the Holy Prophet’s Household.

According to IRIB World Service, speaking on Thursday, the Leader of Islamic Ummah and Oppressed People Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei congratulated everyone on the auspicious occasion of the Birth anniversary of the daughter of the Holy Prophet of Islam, Hazrat Fatemeh Zahra (Peace be upon her). He emphasized that the reason he hasn’t taken a stance or comment on the recent nuclear negotiations is that there is no need for that, at this stage.

The Supreme Leader said: “Iranian officials and members of the nuclear negotiating team have clearly said that no nuclear agreement has been reached, at this stage, and the negotiations are continuing.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Leader of Islamic Ummah and Oppressed People Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei said what has been agreed upon up to now is a joint declaration, no final nuclear accord has been agreed upon, the contents of a final nuclear accord are still the subject of discussions, and we can’t even say for certain that both sides will reach a final comprehensive nuclear accord.

Thus, the Supreme Leader said: “congratulations will be meaningless at this stage.” In further remarks, the Leader said he is one hundred percent for a nuclear agreement which safeguards and preserves “the dignity of the Iranian nation”. He pointedly added: “If anyone claims that I am against a nuclear agreement, then this is certainly not true”.

Elsewhere in his remarks, the Leader of Islamic Ummah and Oppressed People Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei said if the lifting of sanctions against Tehran becomes a gradual stage-by-stage process, then the whole negotiating process becomes meaningless, since the whole point of these negotiations was to remove all sanctions against Iran. The Leader added: “If a nuclear agreement is reached between the two sides, then all sanctions against Iran should be lifted on the same day the agreement is signed and implemented.

The Supreme Leader also criticized all those who refer to the 5+1 Group as ‘the international community’. The Leader said: “Essentially we are negotiating with the United States, and the three European countries, not the international community, as some have claimed. In fact the international community is the same 150 countries who attended the Non-Aligned Movement Summit in Tehran a few years ago. They are the international community”.

Turning to the very important developments in Yemen, the Leader of Islamic Ummah and Oppressed People Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei said: “The Saudis made a mistake by their military aggression against Yemen. This has set a very bad precedent (a very bad example) for the region”.

In further remarks, Supreme Leader emphasized that Saudi military aggression against the Yemeni nation constitutes a war crime, a genocide, and those responsible can be prosecuted in an international court of law. The Leader pointedly added:
“Killing Yemeni children, destroying homes, and ruining a country’s infrastructure, and destroying its national wealth is a horrendous crime — a colossal crime.

Elaborating further, the Leader of Islamic Ummah and Oppressed People Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei said undoubtedly the Saudis will pay a price for this, they will lose out, and they will not emerge victorious.

Commenting further about his prediction of a Saudi defeat in Yemen, the Supreme Leader said: “The Zionist regime has a more capable military force than Saudi Arabia, but the Zionists were defeated in the Gaza strip, even though Gaza is much smaller than Yemen. Yemen is a relatively large country, with a population of tens of millions”.
