Syrian forces clear Damascus district of insurgents

Syrian Army troops have managed to clear the al-Sbeineh district of Damascus of foreign-sponsored insurgents, killing dozens of them in the process.

Syrian soldiers launched an operation against armed men in the area on Tuesday and shot them all dead, the SANA news agency reported.

Later in the day, Syrian soldiers totally purged the al-Arqoub district of the flashpoint city of Aleppo of insurgents.

Syrian troops engaged in intense clashes with foreign-backed insurgents in the area and killed scores of them.

Syria has been experiencing unrest since March 2011.

Damascus says outlaws, saboteurs, and armed terrorists are the driving factor behind the unrest and deadly violence while the opposition accuses the security forces of being behind the killings.

The Syrian government says that the chaos is being orchestrated from outside the country and accuses Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Turkey of arming the opposition.
