The Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, has emphasized that brave and faithful Iranian university students, who took over the US embassy in Tehran on 4th November 1979, exposed to the world public the real identity and the truth about the US embassy, which was being used as a Den of Espionage.

According to IRIB World Service, on Sunday thousands of university students and school pupils met with the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, with 4th November, the anniversary of takeover of the American embassy in Tehran in November 1979 by revolutionary students, almost upon us.
Speaking at the meeting the Leader said: “30 years ago young Iranian students took over the US embassy in Tehran and named it The Den of Espionage, and today we see that even in European countries, which are allies of the United States, the American Embassy is referred to as the Den of Espionage . This shows that young revolutionary Iranian students were 30 years ahead of their time”.
In further comments the Leader said the US government is an oppressive and colonialist government which thinks it has the right to meddle in the internal affairs of all nations. The Leader pointedly added: “The Iranian nation, with its Islamic revolution, stood up to the bullying and coercion of the United States, and after the victory of the Islamic revolution, uprooted the interests of the arrogant powers inside the country, and unlike some countries, finished off the job and completed the revolution.
Elsewhere in his remarks, the Leader said if a nation decides to compromise and to be lenient towards the arrogant powers, it will certainly not benefit from this decision. The Leader added: “America’s arrogant and imperialist attitude means that many nations don’t trust the United States and are weary of it. Experience has shown that any nation and any government which trusts the US will suffer – it will be dealt a blow – even if that nation is classified as one of America’s friends .
Turning to the issue of Iran’s nuclear negotiations with the West, the Leader said: “As I reiterated in my speech in Mashhad, I am not hopeful about the result of the negotiations, but God willing, we will not be worst off as a result of these negotiations either. This experience – the negotiations – will make the Iranian people think more deeply, and if they reach a positive result, well so much the better, but if these negotiations don’t get anywhere, then this means the Iranian nation will have to stand on its own feet”.
Elsewhere in his remarks, the Leader said it is wrong to think of Iran’s negotiating team as “compromisers”, they are the children of Iran’s Islamic revolution, they have been given a difficult task — a difficult mission – and no one should try to weaken Iran’s negotiating team, or to weaken someone who has been assigned to a difficult mission.
The Leader pointedly added: “America’s scorecard shows clearly that the nuclear issue is just a pretext for the Americans to continue their hostility towards Iran.
