Lebanese FM: Promotion of Iran-US ties promising for region

Speaking exclusively to IRNA, Mansour said the new change in Iran-US relations is highly significant.

US President Barack Obama and President Hassan Rohani held a historic telephone conversation on Friday (September 27), while the Iranian President was on his way to the J.F.K airport.

It is the first time US and Iranian leaders have spoken directly since 1979.

The two presidents underlined the need for a political will for expediting resolution of West’s standoff with Iran over the latter’s nuclear program.

President Rohani and President Obama stressed the necessity for mutual cooperation on different regional issues.
