Lebanese FM Urges Arabs to React Strongly to Israeli Assault on Gaza

Lebanese Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour called on Arab nations to adopt tough political and economic measures against Israel in reaction to the Zionist regime’s assault on the Gaza Strip.

“The Arab countries must freeze their contacts, withdraw their ambassadors and suspend agreements with Israel,” Mansour said during an Arab Foreign Ministers’ emergency meeting to discuss the situation in Gaza at the headquarter of the Arab League in Cairo on Saturday.

He said Arab countries need to demonstrate strong diplomatic resolve in support of the Palestinians in Gaza.

Mansour pointed out that “the Palestinian people are demanding the Arabs to courageously stand against the assault”.

“The Israelis must be prosecuted in international courts for committing war crimes against Palestinians,” Mansour added.

Meantime, Arab ministers agreed to send a delegation to Gaza led by Arab League Chief Nabil El-Arabi that should be there no later than November 19 and possibly as soon as November 18.

Speaking to reporters after the ministerial meeting in Cairo, El-Arabi said the delegation would “be comprised of the head of the Arab summit, which is Iraq, the head of the ministerial rotation, which is the Lebanese Foreign minister, and the Secretary General, in addition to any other countries wishing to join.”

The Arab ministers expressed strong support for Palestinians in Gaza and condemned the Israeli attacks on the besieged coastal enclave which started on November 14.
