In a tragic turn of events, an unexpected and explosive sound pierced the tranquility, accompanied by harrowing cries. The catastrophic attack resulted in the deaths of four children from the family, with several others sustaining serious injuries and experiencing profound trauma.

Malak, whose daughters were Sara, aged nine, and Fatima, aged twelve, shared with the Press TV website the harrowing experience of losing her two children in an Israeli airstrike that demolished their home.

A family and their extended relatives, numbering about 25 individuals, have been forced to relocate from the Haret Hreik area in Beirut’s Dahiyeh suburbs to Qmatiyeh, a village in the Aley District deemed “safe” and situated beyond the conflict zone.

In recent months, reports have indicated that at least 200 children have lost their lives in Lebanon due to actions attributed to Israeli forces, with over 700 others suffering injuries, many of which have resulted in long-term disabilities.

More than 400,000 children have been displaced as a result of recent Israeli military actions, enduring the psychological impact of bombings throughout Lebanon and the abrupt upheaval of their everyday existence.

In a report released in October, Adele Khodr, UNICEF Regional Director, disclosed that medical professionals in Lebanon have reported treating children who were found to be “bloodied, bruised, and suffering from multiple fractures,” while also experiencing significant physical and psychological trauma.

According to the report, he stated that numerous individuals are grappling with anxiety, flashbacks, and nightmares as a result of the explosions, emphasizing that no child should endure such horrific conditions.

Experts report that displaced children are facing significant challenges, including fear, anxiety, and the dangers of destruction and potential death in unfamiliar and unstable conditions. These children are left in uncertainty, questioning when they might return to their homes or resume their education.

‘Claims Emerge Alleging Deliberate Targeting by Israel’

In a statement to the Press TV website, Malak recounted the events of the ill-fated evening, describing it as a routine gathering where the family was enjoying tea on the balcony as the children engaged in play.

A resident of the southern suburb of Beirut, Dahiyeh, specifically Haret Hreik, recounted her family’s experience during the beginning of the Israeli aggression against Lebanon. She revealed that her family was forced to evacuate to Qmatiyeh, where they are now living together with 25 family members in the same residence, highlighting the challenges they face.

She reported that from their vantage point in the mountainous region, they observed continuous Israeli airstrikes on Dahiyeh around the clock. Their experience was dominated by sights of rising smoke and the resounding noise of powerful explosions.

“On October 6, events took a dramatic turn as Israel launched an attack on our location,” Malak recounted, describing the abrupt change. “At precisely 10:00 p.m., a power failure plunged everything into darkness, leaving us bewildered and in shock. Cries of ‘We’ve been bombed! We’ve been bombed!’ echoed around us.”

The scene was engulfed in smoke so dense that visibility was severely compromised, making it impossible to discern the presence of others nearby. Summoning all available strength, I managed to stand and pivot towards the balcony door, only to be confronted with the grim reality that a significant portion of the building had collapsed.

“I soon became aware of my own injuries as I noticed I was bleeding. The fate of my daughters was uncertain until I spotted the youngest one, unharmed, but the whereabouts of her two sisters remained unknown.”

Malak experienced a significant loss of concentration and almost fainted before ambulances arrived swiftly at the scene to transport her and her family members to the nearest medical facility for further evaluation and treatment.

In an emotional account, she recounted the aftermath of her surgery, describing the distress she felt upon awakening to find her daughters unaccounted for. Despite her inquiries, she was met with uncertainty; her husband was unaware of their whereabouts. She explained that ambulances had already dispersed the injured to different hospitals, making it difficult to locate her family members. Struggling to contain her tears, she shared the anguish of those moments.

At least 25 individuals sustained injuries in the attack, with several losing their eyesight or limbs. Some victims are expected to remain hospitalized for several weeks as they undergo advanced medical treatment.

‘My Angels Have Achieved Martyrdom’

Malak underwent emergency surgery and was admitted to the hospital. Upon regaining consciousness the following morning, her immediate concern was the well-being of her daughters, whom she inquired about as soon as she awoke.

In an exclusive interview with Press TV, a grieving mother recounted the harrowing experience of being informed about her daughters’ conditions. “Everyone was telling me that my daughters were in the Intensive Care Unit and their situation was critical,” she explained. “After two days, a close family member came to visit, and my first question was about my daughters’ whereabouts. She shook her head, and I asked if they were killed, if they were martyred. Again, she shook her head, confirming that they had indeed been martyred.”

Malak expressed that she continues to feel numb, struggling to comprehend the enormity and impact of the tragedy.

Malak, who was professionally trained as a nutritionist, chose to forgo her career ambitions in order to dedicate her time to raising her three children. Unfortunately, her life did not unfold as planned, ending in unforeseen circumstances.

She expressed a poignant longing to see her children before their burial, a desire made all the more challenging as she was recovering from multiple surgeries that severely limited her mobility.

The grieving mother expressed her deep longing to see her children, Sara and Fatima, and the compassionate hospital staff facilitated this request. They organized for the girls to be transported by ambulance, allowing her to say a final goodbye.

Malak remains in the dark regarding the tragic deaths of her daughters, as authorities have yet to provide any answers surrounding the circumstances of the incident.

The grieving mother questioned the tragic loss, asking, “What offense could these four young children possibly be guilty of? What did my daughters do to warrant such a fate? Can anyone provide an explanation for this?”

Vibrant and Skilled Young Women Recognized for Their Talents

Malak noted that her daughters, Fatima and Sara, have never encountered war firsthand. They were not born during the Israeli incursion into southern Lebanon in 2006, which ultimately led to a withdrawal perceived as dishonorable by many observers.

According to their mother, the family had always been aware of the turbulent history in the region, having been told accounts by elder relatives of the 2006 conflict between Israel and Lebanon. In addition, they kept themselves informed about the current Israeli military operations in Gaza and regularly expressed their sympathies towards the plight of Palestinian children.

She emphasized her commitment to prioritizing their mental and physical well-being, making sure their time was spent constructively. She noted that both individuals are dedicated reciters of the Quran, having memorized substantial passages. Additionally, they possessed a strong enthusiasm for crochet and embroidery, she added.

Fatima demonstrated a distinct enthusiasm for calligraphy, launching an online venture to market her handcrafted creations, which she was delighted to sell. In addition to her entrepreneurial pursuits, she, along with a peer, actively participated on the school basketball team and shared a fondness for swimming, having completed advanced courses in the sport. Moreover, their evenings were enriched by the anticipation of bedtime, where they eagerly awaited the cherished ritual of reading bedtime stories.

As Malak recuperated in the hospital from her injuries and the associated trauma, a surge of messages began pouring in from the school friends of Fatima and Sara.

Malak conveyed to the Press TV website that the collective of friends shared a profound bond characterized by deep affection and attentiveness. They frequently engaged in activities together, including playing, studying, reciting verses from the Holy Quran, and enjoying outings as a group.

Friends of Fatima and Sara were visibly distraught and emotional following their martyrdom. In heartfelt letters addressed both to the late individuals and to me, they conveyed deep sorrow and profound emotions.

Malak delivered an emotional message penned by Fatima’s close friend, Sara Hmayed.

In a heartfelt tribute, Hmayed expressed profound sorrow and longing for his close friend and sister, Fatima, following her passing. Reflecting on their time together, he shared, “I was eagerly anticipating spending the school year with you. You were not just a friend, but a sister. I miss you immensely. Your grace and kindness have surely added beauty to heaven. Our conversations and times spent together will be deeply missed. Farewell, my dear friend. I hold hope for a reunion in the afterlife.”

In response to messages she received following the tragic loss of her daughters, Malak expressed her thoughts and feelings to those who reached out to her.

She remarked that she conveyed to them that Fatima and Sara held them in deep affection, expressing her hope that they would consistently pray for them and keep their memories alive. She also shared insights into their commendable traits, underscoring their kindness towards all, and emphasized that they should take pride in them.

“They now reside among the stars, having fallen victim to what has been described as Israeli aggression. I further implored them to uphold their strength in the ongoing struggle against injustice, encouraging them to persist in this fight both now and in the future. Additionally, I advised them to extend kindness and love to all.”
