Palestinians Successful Rocket Attacks Prove Vulnerability of Israel’s Iron Dome

Commander of Iran’s Basij (volunteer) force Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Naqdi dismissed as “media campaign” Israel’s claims about the power of its ‘Iron Dome’ air defense shield, saying that Palestinians’ successful rocket and missile attacks showed vulnerability of the so-called shield.

“Impenetrability of Iron Dome is just a media campaign because (Palestinians’) missiles have already penetrated it (air defense shield),” Naqdi said, and added, “Even a hand-made Palestinian rocket penetrates Iron Dome.”

In similar remarks on Saturday, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Brigadier General Massoud Jazzayeri dismissed the importance of Israel’s air defense shield, and noted that the rockets fired by the Palestinian resistance forces can hit any target desired by the Palestinians.

On Sunday, five Palestinian civilians were killed in airstrikes, including four children ranging in age from one to seven.

The deaths bring to 54 the number of Palestinians killed since the Israeli aggressions began on Wednesday. One-third of the dead were civilians. More than 400 people have been wounded in the strikes.

In retaliation for the Israeli strikes, Palestinian resistance fighters have fired hundreds of rockets from Gaza into the Israeli cities, including Tel Aviv.

Media reports said more than 900 rockets fired from Gaza have hit Israel since the recent violence flared on Wednesday.

The Israeli missile shield has failed to intercept two-thirds of missiles fired from the Gaza Strip in retaliation for Israeli attacks.
